Canadians are way ahead the digital age! According to a recent comScore report, approximately 23 million Canadians were online and they spent more time online than anyone else on earth – 43.5 hours a month! This is almost twice the worldwide average of 23.1 hours.

Canadians love Facebook and YouTube and they are embracing Twitter. In September 2011, 20.1 million Canadians ages 13 and older used mobile devices. This is important news for Edmonton Realtors.

So why am I reciting all these statistics? I had lunch with a realtor friend of mine who considers having his own online presence which would include social media “a gimmick”. Needless to say I was a tad taken back – after all, he does know what I do for a living, and while I’m sure he did not mean to offend my profession, I was dumb ...

Are some small business owners luddites? ~ Enter the Internet Coach

The social media “buzz’ is nothing new as we are slowly closing out 2011 – every organization has heard about it, millions of people are using it, but there is still a fair amount of resistance from small business owners (SBOs). Seriously, I’m still getting most of my clients onto the “Web” and it is 2011! That in itself tells me a lot about people’s ability to embrace change, or does it?

Straight out of the gate I’m am going to say that these SBOs are smart people – they have been in business for years, even decades and are very successful at what they do. They are entrepreneurs and have all the qualities you would expect from smart, savy people. I can hear you thinking – how smart are they ...

Normally on Sunday mornings I have my coffee, review the latest technology news, will update my status on various social networking sites and then…I go to the kitchen to prepare an amazing meal. Sunday is the day that my family connects – we no longer live in the same home, so it’s my way of bringing everyone together for good food, great wine and to catch up on each other’s lives – it’s about relationships. However, today is my birthday so I will be enjoying a fantastic meal — at Corso 32, a fabulous up and coming restaurant in Edmonton.

But back to relationships – we all know that Social Media is about relationships, some argue for and against, but there is no doubt that while the vehicles may change, social media is here to stay. Times are changing rapidly –that is obvious, ...

So for people who are new to Twitter, it’s a micro-blogging system that permits you to post 140-character messages. It enables its users to send out and read messages referred to as twitter updates. It is a very good example of a powerful way to instantly distribute your opinions through the world-wide-web.

Twitter is comprised of a more sophisticated targeted crowd who use it for a particular goal. What is great is that twitting enables you to reach a crowd that is really extremely enthusiastic about what you do – and who does not love that?

Although Twitter is now an extremely powerful public relations tool; you have to be mindful what you broadcast to everyone for instance “picking up chicken watching TV tonite” may not be the message you want to send to your followers; however, if you are a foodie, ...

It is true you can have one website that facilitates both PC and mobile devices. We often build sites for that purpose, such as Edmonton Online Marketing. This site meets Wc3 standards for the mobile device. That being said,.mobi sites have much less content, they are built to fit a smaller screen (portrait versus landscape), the navigation is easier, it loads much quicker saving mobile users data plans, and there is a click to call function that will only work on a mobile device.

So why is this important? Let’s take the example of a couple who find themselves in downtown Edmonton. They decide they want to go for dinner – and they feel like “Italian Food”. They will naturally go to their mobile device and search. The first local Italian restaurant that provides them with the menu, hours ...

When one says “Mobile Advertising” many small businesses become confused as it means many different things. There are many aspects that go into making your mobile marketing campaign a success. We are going to talk about two very popular vehicles below:
